Wing Straße is a mixed-use commercial and residential project located in the former Berlin Tempelhof Airport area. The project aims to create a diverse selection of apartment configurations, address surrounding conditions, and maintain the significance of the historical runway. In addition, the project draws upon Berlin’s culture, history, and cinematography.

Berlin, Germany Site design is based on an airfield turned public park. The studio created an urban design plan for the Tempelhof field park. I designed a building adjacent to the Flower Garden and heritage plane runway. My project is focused on making a dark exterior to juxtapose the flower garden and bring light pastels to the interior. The project features retail spaces, housing, a semi-public courtyard, library space, green roofs, underground parking, office space, and exhibition spaces. The project has open lighting throughout the interior spaces with pops of color poking through the exterior of the building’s façade. The building is connected with a curtain wall that spans the perimeter of the site and brings the building together.
Yi Wang
Berlin Living Center
Yi came to Canada in 2021 to pursue his dream of architecture. With a passion for Art and Architecture, he graduated from the environmental design program in China and worked as a theme park interior designer for Fantawild Holdings Inc for a year. He is always looking into social narrative aspect in architecture and emphasizing them by using technology and graphic design. He is excited to be one of the University of Manitoba architecture student and looking forward to meet fantastic architecture students all over Canada.
Across Berlin, affordable housing is being pushed farther and farther out of reach. The project is located in tempelhofer feld, which aims to release the housing pressure in Berlin. As the project is in the entrance tempelhofer feld, the building will be leading the rest of the affordable housing project spreading along the perimeter of the feld. In response to its surrounding condition, various occupancy uses are incorporated into the building.

After breaking the Berlin Wall, the city joined, behind the several cultures of young people unhappy with the government but happy in their reborn of a chaotic world. This building intends to recreate the story and give space for new cultures.
