We are pleased to announce YEE-O 2020 – Year End Exhibition – Online edition for this 2019-2020 academic year. This annual event celebrates the hard work and creative achievements of over 500 undergraduate and graduate students from every unit and level in the Faculty of Architecture at the University of Manitoba. Unfortunately, COVID-19 led to the cancellation of this in-person event, but sharing and celebrating student achievements must go on!
Digital Drawing Workshop
Instructor: Anna Thurmayr
This workshop provided an introduction to computer aided design (VectorWorks) and computer graphics. Students experimented with the computer as a medium to design landscape architecture and present ideas applying analogue and digital representation techniques. An aerial image and a precinct map with contour lines were placed at their disposal for reference purposes. Students chose a painting from the Canadian artist Walter Joseph Phillips and used that artwork as their rendering inspiration. The artist’s work has been displayed at the Pavilion in the Assiniboine Park, curated by the Winnipeg Art Gallery. The students retrieved the artwork from following website if not otherwise noted. http://www.sharecom.ca/phillips/contents.html
