Year End Exhibition Hero Image

We are pleased to announce YEE-O 2020 – Year End Exhibition – Online edition for this 2019-2020 academic year. This annual event celebrates the hard work and creative achievements of over 500 undergraduate and graduate students from every unit and level in the Faculty of Architecture at the University of Manitoba. Unfortunately, COVID-19 led to the cancellation of this in-person event, but sharing and celebrating student achievements must go on!

History of Landscape + Urbanism

Instructor: Kamni Gill

The objectives for this course are to:

  • introduce students to the history of human settlements and the making of landscapes for human use through a series of carefully selected case studies in a range of geographical locations and time periods.
  • enable students to develop an understanding of the political, economic, aesthetic, social and physical contexts within which such landscape and settlements are shaped
  • develop students’ ability to “read” landscapes through critical writing and analytical drawings
  • develop students’ ability to convey an integrated social and cultural analysis of a particular settlement or designed landscape through  the medium of video.
